how to knit directions

For many people one of the most enjoyable aspects of the craft is browsing through the many yarns available in a knitting shop. Let me start by introducing you to the five stitch types that I believe are at the very heart of knitting!

Flat knitting is usually used to knit flat pieces like scarves, blankets, afghans, and the backs and fronts of sweaters. If you don't have one the you can just place the knitting on a fresh towel. To compete with the speed of the new knitting machines, many of the cottage industries started to knit garments in flat pieces which were sewn together; they worked piecemeal.

In securing the previous stitch in a wale, the next stitch can pass through the previous loop either from below or above. The dyeing of yarns is a complex art. Sock knitting machines are antiques and they are not made any more.

Circular knitting needles in three different lengths and sizes. Hence, thicker yarns generally require fewer stitches, and therefore less time, to knit up a given garment.

So, if you want to slow down, and find meaning in your life again, try knitting. Be sure to try using other available resources, such as local craft and hobby stores.
