I wanted to set out some basic knitting in Here's how I care for the things I have been knitting.

One of the earliest known examples of knitting was finely decorated cotton socks found in Egypt in the end of the first millennium AD. Plied yarns may themselves be plied together, producing cabled yarns or multi-stranded yarns. You should hold classes on a regular basis, such as once per week, biweekly, or once a month.

All knitting instructions use basically two stitches, the knit stitch and the purl stitch. The knit stitch is formed by making loops which interweave with one another; one after another. Before you start with a pattern as a beginner, you should know the basic stitches including the knit stitch and purl stitch.

Cable patterns are made by permuting the order of stitches; although one or two stitches may be held by hand or knit out of order, cables of three or more generally require a cable needle. So why make it more difficult for yourself by choosing small size needles and tiny yarn to learn with?

Patterns for knitting provide a strong outline and foundation for starting any new knitting project. It doesn't all happen at once.
